No appointments needed
If you become one of our clients, you will enjoy our policy of “no appointments needed”. If you are like me, you probably don’t like to wait for very many things in this life. One of the last people I want to wait on is someone that I am paying to work for me. I ask my clients to come visit our Dallas offices without appointments any time between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and anytime between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM on Fridays. (I let everyone get a head start on the weekend on Fridays). In Terrell, just call Sandra to make sure she is there, as she has duties as a Terrell City Councilwoman that sometimes takes her out during the business day. In Jefferson, I run that office personally on Friday through Monday, but I may be in and out so just check to see where I am. Obviously, if you want to make an appointment for a specific time, we are here.
No fee unless we collect
At Otstott & Jamison, we work on a contingent fee basis, which means that we receive a percentage of your recovery, whether by settlement or verdict, only after you get paid. Money will never flow from you to me, only from me to you. If we are successful for you, we will receive a check from the party that injured you, or is responsible for paying for your injuries, and we will take our part off the top. We only get paid if you are receiving money. If we are not successful in getting money for you, you owe us nothing.
Talking with lawyers
Many people make a mistake in talking with lawyers, or others who they are hiring to work for them, in failing to nail down the details of employment. Always ask your lawyers how much they are going to charge for every single thing they are going to do at the very beginning of the work. Make sure that all of your questions are asked and answered. Make sure that you understand the deal before you sign anything. If you have questions, get them answered before a contract is signed. A good relationship starts with a good understanding.
